SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

Domus is committed to environmental and sustainable practices, which are demonstrated through three key elements: 1) the partnership with world leading tile manufacturers whose production processes meet or exceed environmental standards and who are committed to ecological improvements; 2) the recycling of unused tiles and other business waste at Domus' HQ & Logistic facility in Surrey, and 3) an "optimised full load" delivery policy that maximises our transport efficiency, minimises our carbon footprint and reduces waste.

CREATIVE ENVIRONMENTALISM AT ITS BEST

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environment Assessment Method) is the most widely used building assessment scheme in the UK. The Green Guide to Specification is the mechanism BREEAM assessors use to measure the environmental impact of specifications for key building elements. Table A is an extract from The Green Guide to Specification; it identifies ceramic floor tiles as a LOW ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT material and receives a Summary Rating of 'A', which equates to the best possible ecological performance.

DOMUS GOES A STEP FURTHER

To assist specifiers, designers and clients in their selection and specification of materials, certain product ranges, shown below, have been assessed to recognised standards, such as the Ecolabel Quality Mark. Also, they are chosen for the significant use of recycled materials contained in each tile. Domus ensures that product aesthetics, performance and technical standards are not compromised in the pursuit of sustainable practices, and that the integrity of our products and information continues to lead the market.

ECOLABEL is the environmentally friendly quality trademark of the European Union.

All of our SUSTAINABLE DESIGN tiles contain at least 40% recycled content

ARCHITECH

A range that continually considers the evolution of style and architectural trends, Architech is the optimal tile to ensure compatibility between design and ecology. Modelled on the colours and textures of our natural surroundings, it has been conceived to cover spaces and interiors in necessary and continuous dialogue with the existing environment. MIKADO

Surfaces that avoid monotony, that reflect or retain light, industrial materials and the poetry of nature: the glazed porcelain range, Mikado. These tiles simulate strips of bamboo and wood, helping to naturally sensitise spaces and enliven them, which the harshness of some man-made forms resist. A well designed sustainable project should stimulate our general capacity of perceiving a harmonious relationship between design and nature. A perfect sustainable project employs the Mikado range and shouts to the marriage of tiles and environmental responsibility.
