Apex Hotel, Glasgow

Architect: Ian Springford Architects

The Apex Hotel Glasgow, the 9th Apex Hotel that has specified Domus tile and wood products, balances contemporary design with high performance characteristics. The Burlington (DFZB 03) porcelain tile was installed on the foyer floor, chosen for its high anti-slip resistant surface and modern natural stone look. Using a porcelain replica of a natural stone offers a more reliable alternative to its natural counterpart; porcelain minimises time consuming maintenance tasks such as sealing, periodic resealing and intensive cleaning required by natural stone. The contemporary design of the foyer continued onto the walls which were clad in engineered timber, Saunders Twine (WD OP 38). The bedroom en-suites use a modern dark grey colour palette (walls & floor: Conceptual DMRC 03), and feature an innovative use of 800 x 800mm Floortech (DFTC 03) structured finish tiles to form minimal styled shower trays. Other areas: Bar & Cafe floors and walls: Mate (DFZT 04) Public toilets & corridors: Floortech (DFTC 03)
